La Gomera is at 28ºN and 17ºW, just 5º north of the Tropic of Cancer. You can see its position in the world by zooming out several times on the Google map. La Gomera and Playa Santiago will appeal to those looking for an unspoilt destination, free of mass tourism, where life is still slow. Of course it's warm winters are a great attraction, the Canaries being the only place in Europe warm enought to sunbathe in January.

Getting there

Most flights from Europe arrive at Tenerife South airport. From there, you take a bus or taxi (15 minutes) to the ferry port of Los Cristianos where two ferry companies offer services to La Gomera. http://fredolsen.es/en and http://www.navieraarmas.com/en/ The ferry trip takes between 40 minutes and 1 hour to San Sebastian de La Gomera which is a 30 minute ride to Playa Santiago.
